Meet Daniella!

Hair colorist and owner of her namesake studio in Williamsburg.

Who, or what has influenced you?

My love of hair, and all things beauty, began at a really young age, but it wasn’t until I graduated college and realized a corporate setting was not for me, that I decided to pursue a career in it. I was lucky enough to train under some of the best colorists in Manhattan; they helped me develop an eye for the nuances of hair color and hone my skills. I’m influenced by my upbringing and surroundings...my parents, peers, music, clothing, graffiti and other art, people-watching on the streets.

Where do you find inspiration?

So much of my inspiration comes from fashion and art. Vivianne Westwood is one of my favorites—each one of her designs is a masterpiece. I love the way she’s always defied gender norms, and can effortlessly create something that’s so punk and eccentric while still being soft and pretty. That kind of juxtaposition is something I‘m always attracted to. Yaoyoi Kusama is another favorite of mine...her life story is so interesting and her patterns are mesmerizing. Hearing my parents tell their stories of being in New York in the 70s & 80s are also always a good source of inspiration. I’d love to have been able to spend some time downtown in that era.

Who is your dream client?

I love a major transformation. Hair color is such a personal thing, so when someone feels that spark of wanting to try something new, and puts their trust in me to to execute it— that’s the most enjoyable experience to share with a client.

Also...Dennis Rodman. For sure.
